Our vision has always been to invest in the best
equipment to enable to best production. One
innovation in use is ground-up coconut shells,
which allow the pepper to grow in a natural
growing medium. This product comes from a
natural source and is recycled after each
growing season is finished.
At Greenhill Produce we pack all of our red,
yellow and orange peppers immediately after
harvest. We use a state-of-the-art packaging
system by which each pepper is weighed,
labelled, and individually hand-packed into a
box to ensure proper sizing and quality, as well
as to meet Food Safety standards. The boxes
that the peppers are packaged into are
automatically assembled in our warehouse and
delivered to the proper stations. Once packed,
the peppers are transferred to a cooler where
they are stored at fifty degrees Fahrenheit
until they are ready to be delivered to the
store.
We have recently installed a delivery system for
our peppers in our most recent addition to
Greenhill Produce. This system is the first in
North America, and it transports the harvested
peppers from the greenhouse to the warehouse on
a track system; this allows for safer work
conditions and increased packing efficiency.
Naturally, as the market continues to change, we
continue to seek innovative solutions for sweet
bell pepper production. |
